Department of Energy, Environmental & Chemical Engineering

This department has a focus on research and education in environmental engineering science, energy systems, and chemical engineering. The department provides integrated and multidisciplinary programs of scientific education. Our mission is accomplished by:
 

  • Instilling a tradition of “life-long learning"
  • A curriculum of fundamental education coupled with application in an advanced focal area and strengthened by our breadth in other disciplinary areas
  • Participation in cutting-edge research with faculty and industrial partners
  • Access to state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation

 

The basic degree is an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering. Graduate degrees (Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy) in Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering are offered by the department.  Planning is currently underway to initiate Professional Masters Degree Programs.
   

The department has 120 undergraduate students, 70 doctoral students, and 1,894 alumni.  There are 14 tenure track faculty members, with searches for new tenure-track/tenured faculty currently under way. We invite you to browse the pages of this site and learn more about us.

New Master of Engineering Program in EECE | Link »
The Department of Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering has launched a new Master of Engineering Program with areas of specialization in Advanced Energy Technologies, Environmental Engineering Science; Energy and Environmental Nanotechnology, Technology for Public Health and International Development; and Environmental Engineering Management. Partial Tuition Support is Available for  Qualified Full Time Students.

New Building | More »

Construction of a new LEED certified building for the Department of Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering has commenced October 2008.  The ground breaking ceremony was held on October 29, 2008.  It is anticipated that the construction will be completed in Summer 2010, with an occupancy date of Fall 2010.
